THE GRECIAN IDEAL

Part of a BALANCED LIFE Is exercise.

The Grecian Ideal comes from the Greeks, long ago when they made statues. It is a formula they came up with for perfect measurements of the Greek Gods. Here it is in a nut shell. I am going to use my measurements to fill in the blanks. You take your Height 70.5″. Your waist = 43%-46% of your height (I’m using 45.375%)= 32″. Shoulders = 1.618% of waist = 51.77″. Arms = Neck = 50% of waist = 16″. Chest 12″ greater than waist = 44″. Calves = Arms = 16″. Forearms = 85% of Arms = 13.6″. Thighs = 75% of waist = 24″. So, there you have THE GRECIAN IDEAL!

Now my goal is to work out each body part until I achieve this goal. You will see that I have already achieved most of them.

Sometimes I use a PRE WORK OUT DRINK to get started on my work out.

To have a balanced life, you have got to have PURPOSE or a why? Why, do I work out? To stay in shape. But no, really why do I work out? So, that I can keep moving and working as I get older. But why? So, that I can stay healthy and take care of my family. This is a good lesson or way to find your purpose with things in life. Just keep asking why?, after each answer or response and dig deeper and deeper to the real reason you are doing something and that will be your true purpose.

Seriously, the reason I work out is to stay in shape. I came up with the idea of trying to keep perfect measurements, simply as a tool for motivation. I don’t desire to be the strongest man in the world or the most perfect. Just the best I can be, blessed and healthy. It just helps to have goals for motivation. If, I didn’t have a goal or purpose, what would motivate me to work out?

I never really post it, but I do stretch and warm up before doing my work outs. For instance I get on the floor, sort of roll around on my back, stretch my legs and slow motion squat with no weights before starting. Normally what ever body part I am going to work out, I stretch and warm up that area, it is very important to get some blood into the muscles and tendons before lifting. Just thought I would mention that, since I don’t post it in my work outs.

I like the song I’m a Beast to help me get motivated for my work outs.

Here is a list and description of the exercises I do:

Front Neck Curls: I lay with my back on my bench, head hanging off the end and lift a weight plate on my face up and down, slow strict form.

Back Neck Curls: I lay with my face hanging off the end of my bench with weight plate supported by my two hands on the back of my head and lift up and down, very strict form.

ABs: I lay on my back on the floor and lift my legs and head up and hold for a certain amount of time.

Planks: Do different variations on this one, basically face down like a push up and hold for certain amount of time.

Face Scrunches: I scrunch my face tight then stretch it out.

Touch Hands Behind my back: I take my arms and reach behind my back and touch my hands. I reach from my head down and the other arm from the back up and touch or interlock fingers behind my back. Then I change up arms and do it again. This stretches my arms and shoulders as a warm up.

Juggle: Yes, I juggle 3 balls for a certain amount of time πŸ™‚

Stretch: I sit on the floor, reach down and grab my toes or feet and hold for a certain amount of time.

All the other exercises are pretty self explanatory:

Bench Press, Bent Over Rows, Lat Pull downs, Squats, Leg Extensions, Leg Curls, Full Military Press, Dead Lifts with a Shrug at the top, Curls, Triceps, Wrist Curls, and Reverse Wrist Curls. I think that covers all my work out terms…

One, note I want to make here, is when measuring, try to measure the same way every time so that you get a consistent measurement. The correct way, would be to do it right before a work out. All measurements should be done in a relaxed state, except for the Bicep measurement which is the only flex measurement.

Hey, I’m on a roll! DAY 3 Measured arms 15″, goal 16″. 58 Face scrunches, touched hands behind back, juggled 3:44 minutes. Triceps 3825 lbs., and walked 15 minutes.

1-5-18
DAY 5, Measured abs, 33 1/4″, goal 32″. This is what happens when you lose focus, don’t exercise for a few days and eat too much Black-eyed peas and ham. LOL It was good, so I guess it was worth it? Any way, it is, what it is… Did 58 face scrunches, touched hands behind back, stretched 2:08 minutes, juggled 3:44 minutes, Abs 2:08 minutes, planks 2:08 minutes and walked 16 minutes. I’ve worked out 5 days in a row! I’m on a roll, LOL

1-6-18
DAY 6, Going to adjust my work outs in the future. Basically going to have 4 days of work outs and rotate. I will post them as they are done to make it clearer, but basically will have DAY 1 Legs, DAY 2, Pull movements, DAY 3 Push movements, and DAY 4 ABS, Will do all the same warm up routines I do now and will walk everyday. Will not have any off days as AB DAY 4 will be so easy, it will be like an off day and plenty of off days will occur just from exhaustion LOL. Anyway made a pre work out drink and took an aspirin before todays work out. Did 58 face scrunches, touched hands behind back, juggled 3:44 minutes, pushups 1×12, 1×8, bench press 5104 lbs., walked 16 minutes. Hoping the change up in my workout will make it a little more interesting and help with my growth goals.

1-7-18
DAY 7, It’s funny, I’m excited about starting my new work out routine, but I have 7 more workouts before I can begin, that’s just the way I am, LOL
Any way, drank 1/2 a glass of cranberry juice with a splash of apple cider vinegar and took an aspirin before todays work out. Measured neck and it was 16 1/8″, goal 16″. So backing off on the weight for each exercise. This gives me a break and I can start adding back, if it drops below 16″. Did 58 face scrunches, touched hands behind back, juggled 3:44 minutes. Full military press 1550 lbs., and walked 16 minutes.

1-8-18
I couldn’t stand the wait! I went ahead and did DAY 1 of my new work out routine. Actually, it was the same as a normal DAY 1, except with a Calf routine thrown in…
Measured thighs 22 5/8″, goal 24″, calves measure 15″, goal 16″. Did 59 face scrunches, touched hands behind back, juggled 3:45 minutes, squats 3915 lbs., was sweating like a pig when I was done with them. Moved on to leg extensions 3930 lbs., leg curls 3575 lbs., calf raises 6437 lbs., and walked 16 minutes. This work out was not really too bad, but I have a feeling doing all pulls in one day and all pushes in another, might be a different story?

Oh, man! I survived work, but no work out today. I have a head cold and it is trying to make it’s way into my throat and chest. I’m doubling up on my Vitamin C and luckily, I’m off tomorrow! So I’m just going to doctor on myself and rest up. Just feel tired and icky, no what I mean?

1-10-18
It’s 6:54 am right now, I’ve been up since 4 am, just because that is the time I get up at least 4 days a week, just a habit. Anyway, I know I will not be working out today, going to just rest and try to get rid of this cold. I was thinking the worst was over yesterday, but this morning… Let’s just say, it’s a good thing I didn’t have to work, because I seriously don’t know if I could make it through a day feeling like this… Of course I would try, I would try to be Spartacus and battle through LOL

Tomorrow, I work 5 am til 1:30 pm, so Spartacus it maybe tomorrow, LOL We shall see… Funny, how I am always writing all this positive stuff, about happiness and being healthy and here I sit writing on my blog, feeling like poop! πŸ™‚

When things are going good it’s great, when there not, there not, just the way life is… Any way, can’t wait to feel better and soon! One good thing about feeling bad, is it helps you appreciate when you do feel good again! Enough complaining, God sure is good to me, I’m blessed!

Well, I made it through work, but that is going to be about it for today. I’m whooped. This morning, I woke up and felt rested, but still have the sniffles and a cough every now and then. Work went well from 5 am, up until about 11:30 am, then I started feeling tired. I did finish working and got off at 1:30. Came home and had some lunch, checked my stocks and now, I am just going to read and rest. Hopefully tomorrow will be better than today. Today, I did feel better than yesterday. Any way, no work out today. 😦

Still not feeling well, was supposed to work until 1:30 pm, but left at 8:00 am when our store manager arrived. No work out today…

1-13-18
Taking Mucinex and was able to complete my work shift today, 5am until 1:30pm. Got home and had some lunch, but no work out, still just not feeling well. Guess, I have to give it up and call it what it is, the flu….

Will this head cold ever go away? Not feeling as sore and tired as I have for the past few days, but my head is still stuffy when I first get up, you know all the overnight drainage stuck up there? Still taking Mucinex and still doubling up on the vitamin C.

Another exciting thing, not related to my exercise program, is when we woke up our furnace was not working. Luckily we have a fireplace. It is around 20* outside and was 52* inside when we first woke up. Now it is around 55* and getting warmer. My wife called the furnace repairman and they are supposed to be out as soon as possible. I’m just hoping it is not a real big costly affair. Praying it will be something simple, like maybe the pilot light is out or the ignitor switch is bad, something simple…

Any way, it’s a 15 year old furnace and nothing lasts forever. Just glad we were debt free (LOL) and have some cushion…

Oh, I almost forgot what I was writing about. Hopefully tomorrow I can get back to working out, I’ll be off with nothing else to do πŸ™‚

Finally! DAY 2 Made a pre-work out drink and added an aspirin and an apple and blended it in my new Ninja I got for Christmas. It was very good, but next time I think I will peal the apple. Measured my neck 15 3/4″ goal 16″, chest 44″ goal 44″, arm 15″ goal 16″, forearm 12 3/4″ goal 13 1/2″. Did 59 face scrunches, touched hands behind back, juggled 3:45 minutes, curls 3995 lbs., wrist curls 1625 lbs.,(made sure to use very strict form), reverse wrist curls 392.5 lbs., bent over rows 5192 lbs., lat pull downs 4455 lbs., neck curls 1180 lbs., back neck 147.5 lbs., dead lifts 6962 lbs., and walked 17 minutes. I could really tell it has been a few days since I last worked out. I was off work today and was able to do this big of a work out, not sure how well I will do with a day that I have to work? Anyway, glad to be back at it!

*OH YES AND PS THE FURNACE PROBLEM WAS JUST A BLOWN FUSE! THANK YOU LORD JESUS!

Where did I learn everything that I have learned? From others. So, if they had not written books, how would I have learned these things?

So, I have had this strong feeling of late to get back to blogging. Not to make a bunch of money, though money is nice. But to help others.

My mission is to blog on a balanced life. The Spiritual, The Social, The Physical, The Financial, and The Mental.

Thinking, I might turn this blog into a book or an e-book with time. So just making notes here. Basically working on getting things in order and down the way that I want them. After 7 days, I will be deleting the oldest day and consolidating and keeping some of the things I have written, but not all.

Now, I am going to list some topics here for myself to be able to come back to later and write about. If you are new to blogging and have trouble coming up with ideas, just keep a note pad handy and anytime you get an idea, just jot it down. That way if you have a dry spell or writers block you can go to your idea pad and quickly get an idea…

Here are just a few I had while drinking my coffee this morning, I find the early morning is a great time for ideas…

Just thinking, how we are all different and have different hearts desires. Yet, we are all the same. We want to achieve our goals and be happy. We all have the same amount of time each day…. Decisions, choices, it is all on us, the individual. We reap what we sow, we are where we are at, because of the choices we have made in life, sorry but it is true… It boils down to making right or wrong decisions and choices each day, we are going to reap what we sow… More topics, they just keep popping in my head: WHY DOES MY LIFE SUCK?, WHY AM I SO OUT OF SHAPE?, THE KEWL THING ABOUT TRUTH, WHAT BUGS ME, AFFIRMATIONS, YOU ARE WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT, IT’S ALL IN YOUR DESIRE…,

These popped into my head this morning, because I was thinking, why should I blog? I have had this battle over blogging for a while. I journal and have since I was 19 years old, almost everyday, there have been periods or weeks where I didn’t, but I’ve been fairly consistent since I was 19. So, blogging to the public, why? I mean, who do I think that I am? I’m just an average guy. Worked retail for most of my life. Never made much money in a year, probably on average of $24,000.00. I’m not famous, have not done anything super special. But yet, on the other hand! I have an Instrument Rated Pilots License, Power Plant Rated License, I am happy for the most part, I am human and have made plenty of mistakes. Yet, I am happy, raised a wonderful family, been married since I was 19, have a paid for home, have a car, could take a 15 year sabbatical if I really wanted too. I am healthy, a very blessed man. We should not compare our selves with others, but I do… I see lots of people worse off than me in many areas of their lives and I wish I could help. I see many people doing better than me in areas of my life and I study them and work on being better in those areas.

The reason, I decided I will blog is to help those looking for help. The ones that care and are looking for happiness. I can’t help those who don’t want it,
yet. So, I decided, I will be myself, do my best, live my life, and blog. That way I am not being self righteous in public and the people who want some help or advice can find it, if they are looking for it.

Now, off to start working on the rest of todays “TO DO” list πŸ™‚

Can we have a balanced life and be really great at something? Personally, I don’t think so… I think we can be good in all areas, but not great at one certain thing. Because as we all know to be really, really, really good at something we have to have focus and desire beyond measure, it has to become our everything and of course that is not balance. We all have our own lives and desires to achieve in life. My desires are balance, happiness and peace.

WHY DO WE DO STUPID STUFF? WHEN IS ENOUGH, ENOUGH? HOW MUCH DO WE REALLY NEED? THE 10 COMMANDMENTS, FOCUS! GET WHAT YOU WANT! GO GET IT! MAKE A LIST! WHAT DO YOU WANT?

When I am rested, life is great! When I get tired, I start wishing! I wish I didn’t work where I work, things start to bug me, people start to bug me…

Thought I had some more topics to write down, but they have left me. I’ve been reading one or two bloggers a day here at WordPress. I can so relate with what a lot of people are writing about. People wanting to write and be recognized for their writing. Wanting people to care, to be acknowledged, wanting to help people… Lots of people feeling they are a minority, when after reading so many blogs there are quite a few of us out there… Personally, I am writing because I enjoy it. I’ve been doing it since I was around 19. I do it for myself, I just enjoy babbling, I guess? It would be great to get paid for writing, but I don’t do it for money, I do it simply because I enjoy it and have a stack of composition, journal, and note books to prove it, LOL

I’ve always thought it would be really kewl to write a novel or a fiction book, but I’m more of a knock my mind out of gear and babble on type of writer. Just like putting down my thoughts as they pop into my grey matter.

I am going to start sharing a little bit more about some truths in the Bible and how they can help in having a happy successful life. Free of charge! LOL, I don’t understand 100% why people won’t share successful ideas with other people for free? Most of the get rich quick schemes and ideas I have ever purchased, were how shall I say nicely? SCAMS!

I think, we should share ideas on success, health, and happiness for free. So that is what I am going to do. Maybe, you have to charge money for people to think they are getting something? Example and this is free and 100% true. If you do right, you will reap right. If you do wrong, you will reap wrong. Example: You are taking a test and the question is, what is 2+2? You write down 4 and get 100% on the test. You write down 7 and get a big zero! Just the way it is, simple example but every thing in life works the same way, sorry but it is true!

Am, I perfect? No way Ray! Just know, what I know, if you know what I mean? I do know, that the more I do right, the easier life gets and the better things go. I do know, if I pray, ask God for His help, study, and work at figuring things out and how to do them in the right way, things work out better and get better. Will I make future mistakes? Sure, but if I try really hard and study, I can make a lot less. MADE UP MIND to do it!

I love reading my Bible and doing my best to apply it to my daily life. I also like philosophy and think, I am more aligned with the STOIC or STOICISM PHILOSOPHY. EPICTETUS has several books or writings on the subject. One thing that helps, is the thought of FORGIVE YOURSELF. Try to do as right as you can, as often as you can, but when you make a mistake, forgive yourself quickly as possible. Stoicism is a thought process long before Christ came into being and forgiveness is the main theme in the Bible. We have to admit our mistakes, and move on… If we don’t we will wallow in self pity, or feel like a loser and get no where in life…

Any way these were just things I was thinking about this morning. It all started when I typed in my thoughts to Google and asked what type of philosophy that would be, and Stoicism popped up. After reading several blogs, Wikipedia, and other posts, I had to agree. I am very much in the camp of the Stoics…

EDUCATION, CONTINUED LEARNING, READING, are critical for a happy, healthy, successful life. If we don’t learn… Well, it isn’t going to be pleasant in life. I’m not perfect and by no means the smartest person in the world, but I know right produces better results than wrong choices…

DO NOT WANT IT!

(write a blog on my thoughts about how this would work, sort of like heaven on earth, LOL) It is just a thought, no way it could ever happen, because some people are just mean and hateful and it would just never work…. so sad, but true…

Family, make sure to visit family members at least once per month.
Financial, increase net worth by 20% and increase residual income each month.
Physical, stay healthy and obtain Grecian Ideal, continue to eat as healthy as possible and get my rest.
Spiritual, continue reading Proverbs each day, alongΒ with some portion of the Bible. Continue praying and listening to God.
Mental, continue reading other books of interest each day, continue meditating, and learning new things.
These are things I already work on, just going to work on getting better at each one.

You know you have had a few good days when you are so busy, you don’t have time or take time to blog, LOL

I had a dream last night and normally I don’t remember my dreams when I wake up, but this one was about me helping people at a homeless shelter? I was going around from city to city helping the Churches and places of businesses interested in helping those who needed food and shelter. Each little town and city would use a Church or abandoned building to serve donated food and shelter to those in need, a place to stay until they got on their feet. Like old Walmart buildings and businesses that are empty waiting on new customers to fill the buildings, it was a really cool dream and was working.

In the dream it was actually giving a lot of people jobs, because they would help at the centers, by cleaning, preparing foods, and once they got on their feet, they were helping others to find their way, it was a really cool dream…

The government was not involved, it was just the people of the cities and businesses donating the spaces, food, and shelter…

The people at the shelters were allowed to flea market and set up little shops, if space allowed, it was like tiny cities in little buildings. Some towns didn’t have big spaces because they didn’t need that much help, but others had two or three places and it was just awesome, people were having hopes and dreams again…

Any way, I think what got me started thinking about that was talking to this customer at work about the minimum wage being raised in some states and how there are so many people who have to survive on part time jobs now a days. Not that long ago, the CEO’s and owners of businesses might make a lot of money each year, you know say in the millions, but now some are in the billions and paying people minimum wage. I’m not against people making a trillion dollars an hour, but it just doesn’t seem right that a person helping a company make that big a profit, should be paid minimum wage? Couldn’t the company take those profits and give them back in at least a dividend to the share holders? Couldn’t they divide the profits up amongst the employees and give out a once a year bonus to them?

I’m not talking about taking so much of the profits away to hurt the business, that would not be smart and would hurt the company. But sharing the profits as much as possible with the employees, would only help the business, by helping the employees be able to spend more and boost the economy. Thousands of workers getting more money would be a lot more helpful to the economy, than one billionaire buying one more jet, don’t ya think?

I mean seriously, how many homes can you live in at one time? How many cars can you drive at one time? How many steak dinners will it take to make you happy? What would be wrong with sharing some of the company profits with the hard working employee who take the trash out at your place of business to keep it looking clean for your customers? What would be the harm in that person being able to purchase a home and not sweet out the monthly rent at some rat invested place?

How many cars can you drive at one time? What would be the harm in paying someone enough that they could go out and purchase a small used car so they can get back and forth to work, without having to take a taxi, walk, ride a bike or moped? Hmmm?

I’m not talking about the small business that makes say a hundred thousand dollar profit each year, I’m talking about these companies making billion dollar profits! Some body out there needs to wake up and do like Henry Ford did back when he was making cars! Wake up and pay the workers that helped you become stinking wealthy!

I’m not talking about just giving the money away, I’m just saying if someone works at a company they should get to share in the profits, especially if they are amazingly huge! Why in the world are they being paid minimum wage? You can not possibly spend all those billions?

I need to take a calculator and figure it up… I’m not even sure how much different company CEO’s make, or companies in total. But let’s say a CEO makes 2 Billion in a year, Why couldn’t he be a nice guy and survive on 1 Billion and share the other 1 Billion with his lowly paid associates in the company? So lets say he has 1,000 employees, divided into the 1 Billion would be? Oh, my gosh! 1 Million Dollars per employee! Oh, now I really am sick to my stomach…
These people should be so ashamed of themselves… I just can’t go on….

I wish, I had not put the calculator to it! I seriously hope all the people who have billions socked away, will be safe and not go hungry or cold tonight. Don’t worry, all us hard working associates, will keep doing our best, taking out the trash, being nice to your customers, so you can get to sock away another billion next year! HOW MANY BILLIONS IN PROFIT DO COMPANIES MAKE AND HOW MUCH COULD HALF OF THOSE PROFITS BE SPLIT UP AMONG THE ASSOCIATES EACH YEAR AS A BONUS? Just making note for future research and blog post. *MCD 2016 Net Income:4.69 Billion, this is after all salaries and debts are paid, profit. So, I am saying take half of that and give it back to the 375,000 employees, which works out to be $625.33 per person for one year. Nice bonus if you ask me! *WMT 13.643 Billion Net Income 2016 divided in half = $6.821 Billion, divided by 2,300,000 employees (that is a lot of freakin people) LOL = $2,965.86 in a one year bonus! Nice!
Now, to the average billionaire, this probably doesn’t seem like much money and why give it to the poor guy? But, to us hard working stiffs, that much money can really help us out! Got up at 3:00 am, to be to work at 4:00 am to unload a 1023 piece truck with two other workers. We were done by 6:10 am and started working on putting freight out. I was scheduled to stay until 1:30 pm today, but when the Store Manager got there, I said, “sorry, but I’m done for the day, I’ve got everything put away, and I will be back in the morning” She “said, fine I can tell you are sick, go home and get some rest”. So, I did and that is pretty much what I have been doing all day is sitting on the couch, reading, cat napping, eating, and hoping I get better fast…

Still working on getting my cold better. Our furnace was out this morning, it’s 15 years old and nothing lasts forever. Hoping it will be an easy fix and not cost too much to repair. Furnace repairman, sounded very busy and said they would be out as soon as possible. It is around 20* outside right now and we have gotten our inside temp back up to around 55* now…

I am sick of feeling sick! Moving really slow this morning, but I’m moving! Stocks are up, yeah! Going to go get my weekly supplies, come back home, take my pre work out energy drink and do my DAY 2 work out! It is 10 am right now, so I’ve got plenty of day light left….

WHAT DO YOU REALLY WANT?

Going to start this blog page with the definitions of the words in this sentence from the internet.
WHAT – asking for information specifying something.
DO – perform (action, the precise nature of which is often unspecified)
YOU- used to refer to the person or people that the speaker is addressing
REALLY – in actual fact, as opposed to what is said or imagined to be true or possible
WANT – have a desire to possess or do (something); wish for

Personally, I have no idea what you want? LOL, I can guess… We all have basic needs (wants). Food, clothing, shelter, money, health, happiness, and love or to be accepted. I think that just about covers everything…

I should probably have titled this “What do I really want?”…

I figured out years ago, what I really want, and that is to be happy and healthy and for me, that takes a balanced life.

I didn’t list them here, but there are tons of books on this subject and I am guessing most people know, that most people don’t really understand, what they really want. Because all you have to do is get out into the stores and the masses and see what they are doing to understand they don’t really know how to go about getting what they really want. Hopefully all those great books will help some of these people.

I am going off topic for a moment here… Most of those books will not help the masses that are out there, because a very large percentage of the population doesn’t read books. Next time you see a person in a bad decision, ask them how many books they have read in the last year? I’ve done it. I think you will find that 99% of them will say none or it will be some sort of junk, like you find at the checkouts…. Now back to the topic…

For those of us who do read and try to make our lives better, here is how I went about finding out what I really want! I am going to use a couple of examples. One is food based. Let’s say I want a chocolate chip cookie! I have to start asking myself some questions. Why do I want that cookie? Because I am hungry! Is this cookie the best thing for my hunger? No. Is there something else that I could eat instead of the cookie? Yes, because I have replaced the cookies in my cookie jar with Almonds. So, I grab a handful of Almonds, eat them and the hunger pain is now gone.

It was not really a chocolate chip cookie that I wanted, it was to satisfy my hunger in a healthy way, because my true deepest want is to be happy and healthy.

For most humans however, they will never THINK about the cookie, they will just grab them, eat them, and move on, which is fine, to each his own. I mean, I want to be healthy and happy, but that does not mean that everyone else wants to be healthy and happy.

I developed the habit years ago of making a “TO DO” list. I write down just about everything on this list. Things I want to do today, a week from now, a month from now, years from now and what I call impossible dreams! It’s a long list and like I say, I have probably gotten carried away with it, but I like it and it works for me.

I keep a legal pad with me just about everywhere I go and if I think of something I need, want, or would like to do I write it down. Then at night, I transfer my notes to my “TO DO” list in my computers note pad. Always putting the newest thing at the bottom of the list. Because I always do my best to focus on the thing that is at the top of the list. Once, I complete the thing at the top of the list, I delete it and the next thing of importance moves into the number one spot and that becomes my new main focus.

Sometimes when something moves into the number one spot and it is time to focus on it, I realize that I really no longer want it or to do it, so I delete it. Sometimes it is something that is just not possible for me to do next, so I move it to the bottom of the list and maybe next time I will be closer to being able to do it or have more drive to do it.

Here is a short list as an example of how I do it…

1. cut grass
2. trip to Maine for lobster
3. get 2 week supply of groceries: vitamins, almonds, etc.
4. write a blog post at wordpress
5. get new shoes

So, the number one thing on my list is cut grass. So, I get up and check my notes from the night before and I am seeing the number one focus for me today is get the grass cut! So, I am going to cut the grass as soon as I can! Maybe, I have to go to work this morning, so I will do it when I get home from work or my next off day. The thing is, it is my main focus and it is on my mind, I am going to cut the grass!

Now, I have cut the grass, so it is deleted from the list. And this is what the new list looks like.

1. trip to Maine for lobster
2. get 2 week supply of groceries: vitamins, almonds, etc.
3. write a blog post at wordpress
4. get new shoes

Now my main focus is Maine. So, I make plans for the trip and take it or I decide right now at this time in my life, I am not financially in a position to take it anytime soon, but I still want to go! So, I simply move it to the end of the list and maybe next time around, I will be in a better position to get it done! So now my list looks like this…

1. get 2 week supply of groceries: vitamins, almonds, etc.
2. write a blog post at wordpress
3. get new shoes
4. trip to Maine for lobster

Now my new focus is getting my grocery list done! So, next chance I get I go and get my grocery list of supplies, while at the big box store, I see some shoes I like and go ahead and get those, even though they are not next in the line up. Why do I want them? Because I need them, my other work shoes are broken down and I want my feet to be well, so I will be healthy and happy! πŸ™‚

Now the list looks like this:

1. write a blog post at wordpress
2. trip to Maine for lobster
3. get gas for my car
4. get some fertilizer
5. run screen for new investment

So, now you see new things have been added as I thought about them during the day and added at night. The things I wanted first have moved up in the list and become my main focus because I have been wanting them the longest. As you can see the trip to Maine is moving right back up there to the number one spot. I’m still working on it, but in this example when it gets there, I’ll probably move it back to the end of the list, because I still want it, just not in the position to do it yet! Lord willing someday, I will get to do it and take it off my list.

I’ve been doing this for years and it works out great for me, it helps me to really focus on what I want and get things done! Sometimes, I knock out several of the easy things in a day and then there are things on my list that have been there for years and they keep getting pushed back, but I am getting closer and closer each time they come around. Somethings I thought I would never get done, I finally did! Paying off our house was one of them…

Like I said, I have been doing this a long, long time and my list is huge! I don’t even know how many things are on it, because I only number the top 5 on my list. Sometimes, I accidentally get something on the list 2 or 3 times. Normally that is when, I really, really need or want something and I keep putting it down each day and forget or don’t see it on the list and repost it.

Then there are some things, which may never happen, but I put them down anyway, like getting to ride in space someday. That one keeps going back to the bottom of the list pretty quick every time. LOL I’m not really putting much effort towards that one, but you never know! They say they are getting closer and closer to commercial flights where the public could take space rides.

Well, as normal I have lost focus and babbled and rambled my way to here. This is how I went about finding out what I really wanted, by asking questions and making lists to get what I want. What do you really want?

HAPPINESS

I wrote a blog page on HAPPINESS, THE TRICK IS TO STAY HEALTHY, which is still true to me. But, I wanted to dig deeper into happiness and got back into my favorite book in the Bible Proverbs and researched the word happiness, which I found out means (blessed). The first verse I found was Proverbs 3:13.

KJV Proverbs 3:13 Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.

AMP Proverbs 3:13 Happy (blessed, fortunate, enviable) is the man who finds skillful and godly Wisdom, and the man who gets understanding [drawing it forth from God’s Word and life’s experiences].

NAS Proverbs 3:13 How blessed is the man who finds wisdom And the man who gains understanding.

NIV Proverbs 3:13 Blessed is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gains understanding.

My interpretation: Happy, blessed, fortunate, and enviable is the person who finds skillful and godly Wisdom, and the person who gets understanding drawing it from God’s Word and life’s experiences.

This is true, because doing things God’s way, the right way produces good things and good things do make us happy, no doubt about that! It is also, true that learning from life’s experiences teach us that doing good things make us happy, so if we are smart we do more and more good as we grow older, I find this to be true. Personally, I do my best to do things right as I can, because I have learned, it gets me better results in life and better results keep me happy.

KJV Proverbs 14:21 He that despiseth his neighbor sinneth: but he that hath mercy on the poor, happy is he.

AMP Proverbs 14:21 He who despises his neighbor sins [against God, his fellowman, and himself], but happy (blessed and fortunate) is he who is kind and merciful to the poor.

NAS Proverbs 14:21 He who despises his neighbor sins, But happy is he who is gracious to the poor.

NIV Proverbs 14:21 He who despises his neighbor sins, but blessed is he who is kind to the needy.

My interpretation: Anyone who despises anyone sins against God, his fellowman, and himself, but happy, blessed, and fortunate is the person who is kind, merciful, and gracious to the poor and needy.

Here are the definitions to some of the words in this verse, that I obtained off the internet.

Despise – feel contempt or a deep repugnance for

Contempt – the feeling that a person or a thing is beneath consideration, worthless, or deserving scorn.

Repugnance – intense disgust.

Scorn – the feeling or belief that someone or something is worthless or despicable; contempt.

Mercy – compassion or forgiveness shown toward someone whom it is within one’s power to punish or harm.

Gracious – courteous, kind, pleasant.

Oh, man! Now this one is hitting me below the belt! LOL, I have to be honest on this one, and maybe? It is why I am not happy sometimes? I do have a problem with people who shoplift and drunk bums on the sidewalk at work. Sorry, but it is true. I can’t stand them! So, guess, I have learned something new here and will have to add it to my new HABITS! Starting right now, I will just turn a blind eye to the shop lifters, after all my company doesn’t want to have professional security in the store, so why should I care? As for the bums on the sidewalk asking for money, so they can get more crack or booze, I will just pray for them and tell them God bless you! That way, I am not calling the cops (mercy) and I am being (gracious) to the bums.

Gee, I am feeling happier already! It will be fun, just putting out freight and not paying attention to the shoplifters! Plus, the only time I have to worry about the bums on the sidewalk is when I come and go from work, just a couple minutes out of my day! Yes, I can do it! Oh, what a relief it will be! LOL
And when customers come in and complain to me about the bums on the sidewalk, I will tell them to go home and read Proverbs 14:21, Baa Hahahaha, I am getting happy now, LOL

KJV Proverbs 16:20 He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusteth in the LORD, happy is he.

AMP Proverbs 16:20 He who deals wisely and heeds [God’s] word and counsel shall find good, and whoever leans on, trusts in, and is confident in the Lord-happy, blessed, and fortunate is he.

NAS Proverbs 16:20 He who gives attention to the word will find good, And blessed is he who trusts in the LORD.

NIV Proverbs 16:20 Whoever gives heed to instruction prospers, and blessed is he who trusts in the LORD.

My interpretation: Anyone who makes wise decisions, and listens to God’s word will find good, and whoever trusts in, and is confident in the LORD, happy, blessed and fortunate are they.

I’m glad the verses got off that other subject, LOL…
Now on to the next one…

KJV Proverbs 28:14 Happy is the man that feareth always: but he that hardeneth his heart shall fall into mischief.

AMP Proverbs 28:14 Blessed (happy, fortunate, and to be envied) is the man who reverently and worshipfully fears [the Lord] at all times [regardless of circumstances], but he who hardens his heart will fall into calamity.

NAS Proverbs 28:14 How blessed is the man who fears always, But he who hardens his heart will fall into calamity.

NIV Proverbs 28:14 Blessed is the man who always fears the LORD, but he who hardens his heart falls into trouble.

My interpretation: Happy, blessed, fortunate, and to be envied is the person who reverently and worshipfully fears the Lord at all times regardless of circumstances, but the person that hardens their heart will fall into mischief, calamity, and trouble.

Now you might be thinking, how can one be happy if they are living in fear? Well, the Lord works in mysterious ways, LOL… Here is a verse to help explain the fear of the Lord.

KJV Proverbs 8:13 The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the forward mouth, do I hate.

AMP Proverbs 8:13 The reverent fear and worshipful awe of the Lord [includes] the hatred of evil; pride, arrogance, the evil way, and perverted and twisted speech I hate.

NAS Proverbs 8:13 “The fear of the LORD is to hate evil; Pride and arrogance and the evil way And the perverted mouth, I hate.

NIV Proverbs 8:13 To fear the LORD is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech.

My interpretation: The fear of the LORD is to hate evil, pride, arrogance, the evil way, and perverse speech, because God hates these things.

So this kind of fear is a good fear. Because if we stay away from evil, pride, being arrogant, and perverse speech, more than likely we are going to be a lot happier.

I like the AMP version on this verse “The reverent fear”, that’s a good kind of fear, to me. God loves us and wants the best for us. He is not out to get us! We kind of get ourselves by doing wrong, then we want to blame it on God or something else… When all a long, we cause most of our own problems by just doing wrong and making bad decisions.

The Laws of God and the Universe are out there and that is just the way it is, so why fight it? Why do we keep doing wrong things when deep down, we know it is not going to work out well in the long run?

Now on to the last verse I found…

KJV Proverbs 29:18 Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.

AMP Proverbs 29:18 Where there is no vision [no redemptive revelation of God], the people perish; but he who keeps the law [of God, which includes that of man]-blessed (happy, fortunate, and enviable)is he. [I Sam. 3:1; Amos 8:11,12.]

NAS Proverbs 29:18 Where there is no vision, the people are unrestrained. But happy is he who keeps the law.

NIV Proverbs 29:18 Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; but blessed is he who keeps the law.

My interpretation: Where there is no vision, no redemptive revelation of God, the people are unrestrained and perish, but everyone who keeps the law of God, including regular laws, blessed, happy, fortunate, and enviable is that person.

Now here are some definitions of some words in that verse that I found on the internet.

Vision – the faculty or state of being able to see.

Revelation – a surprising and previously unknown fact, especially one that is made known in a dramatic way.

Fairly simple if you ask me, just do things the right way and life will be a lot happier. IF, we break natural laws, government laws, or God’s Laws, it’s going to be bad, just the way it is….

HABITS

HABITS – A settled or regular tendency or practice, especially one that is hard to give up. I got this definition off the internet. I’m no doctor or professional, just thought I would write down my thoughts on HABIT or HABITS.

We all have them, and I find them to be a very strange thing in deed. Ever have one of those mornings where you get up and are getting ready for work and you are thinking about what you are going to do when you get to work and twenty minutes later, you are ready for work and don’t even remember getting ready or what you did? That is habits at work… strange critter that habit…

We can have good habits and bad habits. I have a good habit of brushing my teeth morning and night, but the bad habit of brushing sideways and too hard. I’m working on doing better… But the other day, my wife caught me and said “why are you brushing so hard?”… I was like “whoops, sorry, I’m working on it” LOL

I’ve often thought if I could create good or great habits in my life how much better off I would be health wise, financially, the whole works! I know how to create new habits for myself, I do it every so often when I find something I am doing that I don’t like and want to do better. Example the other day, I noticed I was doing my wrist curls with poor form, so I am getting back to focusing on that. How long will it take for me to create the new habit? I’m not 100% for sure, but several times for sure. Sometimes, I can create new habits in a matter of days, if it is something that I do everyday or several times everyday. If it is something like a change in my work outs, then it might take a month or two…

I like having good habits, because they give me good results and once I have them in place, I don’t have to even think about it, I just do it and it makes life so much easier. My secrets to creating new habits is first to find something to replace the old one. A bad habit takes time, and you have to find a new one to replace the old one. Once, I have the new idea I just have to really want to do it, so I can focus on doing it when the time comes to do it.
So, example brushing my teeth sideways and too hard, I will have to put a post it note on the mirror to remind me each time I go to brush and in a few weeks, I will be good to go.

So, good luck on changing your old habits to good habits. It is just a matter of doing it, focusing, and time. Probably one month or less! Good Luck!

CONSISTENCY

Here is the definition of Consistency I found on the internet. Consistency- Noun 1. Conformity in the application of something, typically that which is necessary for the sake of logic, accuracy, or fairness.

Consistency is a big help in living a balanced life and being happy. By creating good habits and being consistent in them, it helps one to achieve happiness more often than not, provided the habits are healthy and good.

Being happy has a lot to do with one being healthy. A healthy, rested body, is for the most part going to make one happy most of the time. So, if one can be consistent in the habit of good nutrition, exercise, and rest, this person should be happy for most of the time.

Thoughts and the mind also play a major role in our happiness. So, if a person can consistently keep positive, happy, thoughts in their mind, this will help them to be happy more often, than not.

Proverbs 1:1-33

DEBT FREE

Going to use the K.I.S.S. strategy here to get started. Keep it simple stupid. To be debt free and stay debt free, one has to work or have income, save and invest, live within their means or increase income, and do not borrow or go into debt. Simple right?

Well, in my lifetime I have been in debt several times. Once because I was young and didn’t respect credit cards. On a couple other occasions car debt became a big problem and the biggest debt I incurred was the purchase of a house. But now, I am debt free and plan on staying that way! Life is a lot easier with out the pressure of debt.

Debt in my life was caused by ignorance and poor decision making, but the pain of the bills each month can wise a person up quickly!

Here are some points I hope to get across here to help someone before they get into debt and if you are indebt the hope that you can get out of it!

Being debt free takes what I call paying your dues…
It takes time to stay debt free and will power…
If you want things, make a list, save up for them, and pay cash…
The only thing I would borrow for is a house because it is an investment…
Once you get enough saved, borrow from yourself and pay yourself back with interest…
Don’t worry about keeping up with everybody else, they are paying the bills…
It’s worth the wait…

My interpretation: This is for anybody that has gotten themselves into some sort of debt. They need to do this to free themselves and get out of it as quickly as possible. They need to go to the creditor’s and work out some sort of deal and make the charges less if possible. It needs to become a top priority and focus in your life, to free yourself from the debt. We need to take the example of the ant and work diligently, resting only for what is needed to keep us healthy. We need to pay down the debt and start storing up for our future.

KJV Proverbs 11:15 He that is surety for a stranger shall smart for it: and he that hateth suretyship is sure.

AMP Proverbs 11:15 He who becomes security for an outsider shall smart for it, but he who hates suretyship is secure [from its penalties].

NAS Proverbs 11:15 He who is guarantor for a stranger will surely suffer for it, But he who hates being a guarantor is secure.

NIV Proverbs 11:15 He who puts us security for another will surely suffer, but whoever refuses to strike hands is pledge is safe.

My interpretation: Anyone who puts up security for another will suffer from it, but a person who does not like debt will be safe. Back then, they didn’t have credit cards, but it was possible to get into debt with others. So, debts will cause us problems and they have to be paid back. So, it is best to develop a habit of not liking debt, that way one will be more inclined not to get into it!

KJV Proverbs 13:11,22; 11 Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished: but he that gathereth by labour shall increase.
22 A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children’s children and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.

AMP Proverbs 13:11,22; 11 Wealth [not earned but] won in haste or unjustly or from production of things for vain or detrimental use [such riches] will dwindle away, but he who gathers little by little will increase [his riches].
22 A good man leaves an inheritance [of moral stability and goodness] to his children’s children, and the wealth of the sinner [finds its way eventually] into the hands of the righteous, for whom it was laid up.

NAS Proverbs 13:11,22; 11 Wealth obtained by fraud dwindles, But the one who gathers by labor increases it.

My interpretation: Money gotten in dishonest ways will soon be gone, but the person who works can make it grow little by little.
A good man leaves an inheritance for his children’s children, but the person doing wrong will end up giving their money to the people doing right.
This makes sense, if we get things with out working for them, we don’t really appreciate it and therefore we will do stupid things with the money and it will end up into the hands of the people who know how to handle money the right way!

KJV Proverbs 17:18 A man void of understanding striketh hands, and becometh surety in the presence of friends.

AMP Proverbs 17:18 A man void of good sense gives a pledge and becomes security for another in the presence of his neighbor.

NAS Proverbs 17:18 A man lacking in sense pledges And becomes guarantor in the presence of his neighbor.

NIV Proverbs 17:18 A man lacking in judgement strikes hands in pledge and puts up security for his neighbor.

My interpretation: A person lacking in financial knowledge will get themselves into debt in front of the whole world.

Knowledge is a key factor in staying out of debt. When I was young, I just had to experience it to understand. Hopefully some younger person starting out will read this and not have to go the hard route!

I’ll say it again here! Work, save, invest, live within your means, if you want something, save up for it! If you do incur a debt, pay it off as fast as possible, and as soon as you can! Borrow from yourself as soon as you are able and pay yourself back with interest!

AMP Proverbs 21:5 The thoughts of the (steadily) diligent tend only to plenteousness, but everyone who is impatient and hasty hastens only to want.

NAS Proverbs 21:5 The plans of the diligent lead surely to advantage, But everyone who is hasty comes surely to poverty.

NIV Proverbs 21:5 The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty.

My interpretation: The thoughts and plans of the steadily diligent surely lead to advantage, profits and plenty, but impatience, and haste leads to want and poverty.

This is why I recommend making a list of things that you want and then work and save up to get them. We all want things and no matter how much stuff we have, we will always want more, it is just human nature to want. So, if we need or want something, work, save, and then go purchase it.

The world makes us think we need a lot of things, when really we don’t. It’s called advertising, LOL. Basically all we need are water, food, clothes, and shelter. If you get down to the truth of it, all these things can be had here in America, pretty easy and not really cost much at all.

We are very lucky here in America for the most part to have clean safe water. Almost any where you live, will have running water in the building, and can be purchased at fairly cheap prices in most stores. So, I’m going to estimate it will cost a person say $2 a day for water here in America.

Next is food, I wrote another blog page on people being able to eat healthy on food stamps and yes it can be done. If done correctly, I’m going to estimate a person can get all the nutrition they need here in America on say $10 a day easy.

Clothes can be gotten for free at lots of Churches, from friends and family members. Flea markets, Salvation Army, Good Will, on and on, so Clothes I will say on average cost $1 per day.

Now shelter is the tricky one! It is the most expensive and hardest to find, especially at an affordable price. But it can be done. You might have to find a Church to help you find shelter, or a government shelter. Family, friends, or get with a group of people, maybe a co-worker and make some arrangements to find a cheap place to live together. It is what I call paying your dues, until you get a head in the game of life.

You do what you have to do, to survive. If you don’t have enough money, then you have to find another source of income, work more and save more to get what you need. It is just a fact of life, sorry, it’s just life. People seem to have this idea, that they should go to school, grow up, leave home and just have a million dollar home, car, and all the gadgets society can provide the very next day! Sorry, to bust your bubble, it takes dedication, focus,hard work and time to achieve those things… But, you see people everyday getting deeper and deeper into financial trouble trying to have it all as quick as possible…

My interpretation: 7 The rich rule over the poor and the borrower is servant to the lender.
26 Don’t get into agreements for debt.
27 Because if you don’t have the funds to pay back, they will take all you own.

The best thing, is never go into debt or borrow for anything, if at all possible! Our wants are so dangerous! Use, some patience, wait! Make a list of what you want, then work and save up for it!

If you are already in debt, you can get out, it just takes time. Sell all unnecessary items. Start today, only buying what is absolutely necessary for your survival! Work, save, invest, live within your means! You may have to work 2 jobs? Your spouse may have to start working to help? Don’t do anymore borrowing! Work, pay only for things that are necessary and you can regain control and get out of debt! You just have to get serious and focus!

When you do spend money, get seriously frugal! No more eating out at fast food! Make your food at home! You can get dried beans at very low cost, great source of protein! Drink water instead of wasting money on sodas! WAKE UP and GET SERIOUS! There is no magic formula for getting out of debt, it is just hard work, saving, investing, and living within your means. If you want more than your current means, then you have to work harder and make more money! Sorry, that is just the way it is! Stop kidding yourself and digging a deeper and deeper debt pit!

Being debt free! Is such a great feeling!

My interpretation: People with intelligence see bad things and turn away, but ignorant people go right ahead and have to pay for it.

Hard saying, but true! Been there done that! I wish there was an easier way, but I keep saying it over and over. Work, save, invest, live within your means, and if you are wanting more than your means are providing, then you have to work harder, save, and invest more! Just the way it is….

If you are young and starting out debt free, great! Stay that way, don’t fall into the debt trap!

If you are older and debt free, awesome you know the secret!

If you are young or old and indebt. Don’t worry you can get out of it! It just takes hard work and time! Start being smarter, be frugal, and get started today! You will be glad you did! πŸ™‚

BOOKS I’VE READ IN 2018

This is going to be where I list the books I’ve finished reading in 2018. The first book is The Good Life Handbook: Epictetus’ Stoic Classic Enchiridion I actually started reading it in mid December 2017, but finished it this morning and came up with the idea, to start listing books I read this year. It is a short read and I liked it because I like this style of philosophy. πŸ™‚

GHIRARDELLI CHOCOLATE AND COFFEE

Happy 2018! I woke up at 5:15 am and got my coffee brewing! My favorite time of the day is first thing in the morning. I love GHIRARDELLI CHOCOLATE and MAXWELL HOUSE COFFEE BREAKFAST BLEND

I cut the top off the Assorted Ghirardelli Bag and put it in our pantry, that way each morning when I get one square out to eat with my coffee, it is a surprise. This morning, I had the Sea Salt Caramel πŸ™‚

There is just something so peaceful about a warm cup of coffee and the sweet chocolate. Probably all the caffeine? LOL, But it sure is nice and a great way to start my day.

I’ve read that dark chocolate in small amounts each day are good for us, that is how I got started eating Ghirardelli Chocolate. I’ve tried almost everything they have made and they are all good.

Maxwell House Breakfast Blend is my Brew of Choice. It is a light roast and I’ve read where a couple cups of coffee a day are good for us too.

Any way, reading my Proverbs, eating chocolate and drinking coffee to start off my New Year!
